Vanilla absolute is vanilla in its most concentrated form. It is expensive nature; this absolute is usually reserved for very high end products. The scent of vanilla generates feelings of well being and relaxation. This absolute is extracted from the bean with food grade grain alcohol and may be used for flavor, in aromatherapy and for fragrance. Vanilla absolute offers a warm, sweet vanilla aroma, and its color is deep brown. It's a thick product which may need softening using Bain-Marie and/or dilution in carrier oil.

Vanilla is a perennial herbaceous climbing vine that can grow up to 25 meters (82 feet) high and takes up to 18 months to produce its first flowers. The small yellow-green orchid blooms for only few hours before wilting unless it is naturally pollinated by insects-a rare occurrence or hand pollinated by workers.

Vanilla beans are the dried unripe fruits the orchid Vanilla plan folia. The unripe beans are picked when yellowish in color and are boiled in water for 3 minutes. They are then dried slowly over the next 3 to 4 months in the sun. Each day, they are exposed to sunlight for 2 hours, then covered in blankets and taken in at night to allow the chemical process to take place. Vanilla is a vine growing plant indigenous to several tropical climates; Central and South America, Mexico, India, and South Africa with a very high quality originating from the island of Madagascar.

Vanilla Absolute is non-toxic oil but is rarely used in aromatherapy. It can be blended with a base cream or lotion when it can have a positive effect on all skin types. It's mostly used in skin preparations for it is wonderful, sweet aroma. It's also used as a flavoring ingredient in foods, tobacco as well as in perfumery. It has odor can bring a sense of well-being, euphoria, comfort and a feeling of relaxation.

The vanilla beans originate from Madagascar. Vanilla absolute is obtained by solvent (glycerin) extraction of the fresh dried pod of Vanilla plan folia.

This product is intended for use by trained professionals only. Do not apply directly to the skin. Dilute before use. Use sparingly, absolutes are very potent. Use only 2 drops of absolute per GALLON of carrier oil, lotion or cream (no, that is not a typo absolutes are very concentrated).
